Doing Your Homework
“Bibliotherapy” refers to the use of books, magazines, videos, websites, and brochures to support client change (and in this case, we are the “clients”!). Gathering information and material in an attempt to understand the physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual, behavioral, social, spiritual effects of grief and trauma may equip you to:
- understand that your own grief/trauma process is “normal”
- lessen your isolation, in realizing that you are not alone in your transformation
- recognize small steps you can take in order to promote your own healing
- guide friends and family as to how to help you- they want to help but don’t know how
