Karrie Filios

Karrie Filios MA, LPC, CT is the Bereavement Services Manager for Agape Healthcare. She has worked in hospice and palliative care for over 16 years and has over 20 years of experience in grief counseling and family therapy.
Karrie developed the bereavement services program at Agape Healthcare while also building a robust interdisciplinary internship program for those preparing to enter the field of grief counseling. She co-founded the Starfish Program, a grief support program for children in 2007 which provided support for children and families over for 13 years.
Karrie has been providing bereavement education and training to mental health professionals and community members since 2007. She is currently an instructor for the University of Colorado Denver where she teaches on the topics of grief and loss, children’s grief, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma.
Additionally, Karrie serves as the Committee Chair for the Grief Networking Alliance.
In 2014, Karrie became a Heartlight Center Honoree, which recognized her for outstanding service and commitment supporting grieving individuals and outreach to the community. In 2017, she was awarded the Hospice Caregiver Award and most recently in 2022, Karrie earned her Certification in Thanatology: Death, Dying and Bereavement from ADEC the Association for Death Education and Counseling.
Paula Stephens
Rev Paula Stephens is a renowned speaker, author, Zen Buddhist chaplain, and wellness coach with expertise in helping people navigate grief and trauma. With a Master’s degree in exercise physiology and graduate work in Buddhist Chaplaincy, she offers grief-informed training for health and wellness coaches at WellGrief.com.
Paula’s personal experience with grief and advocacy work has made her a nationally recognized speaker on grief and wellness. She is also an ordained Zen Buddhist Chaplain and teaches a course in integrated resilience for active-duty military personnel. In her free time, Paula enjoys outdoor activities with her family in Colorado.
