Susan Hannifin-MacNab is a social worker, educator and community organizer who has spent her career teaching and leading health and wellness workshops, classes, and support groups for children, youth and families across the Mainland USA, Hawaii, Canada, and Australia. She holds a master’s degree in social work from San Diego State University, a bachelor’s degree in education from Boston College, and credentials as a teacher and school social worker.
In 2012, Susan’s life took an unexpected turn into the world of grief and trauma after the sudden death of her bagpiper-surfer-professor husband. Three years later, Susan founded A2Z Healing Toolbox in order to provide powerful tools and resources to accompany and accelerate the healing journey of those also living with grief and/or trauma. Both personally and professionally, she emphasizes healing with intention, education through action and post-traumatic growth. Her first book, A to Z Healing Toolbox: A Practical Guide for Navigating Grief & Trauma with Intention was published September 2017.
Susan leads the Soaring Spirits International San Diego Regional Group, is an active member of the Love on a Leash Certified Therapy Pet Team and volunteers with several local organizations that support family and community. Susan lives in San Diego with her son, therapy dog, and an inspirational community of peers, mentors and supporters. When she is not working you can find her kayaking, paddle-boarding or playing with her dog on the beach.
